BUSINESS LICENSE:

Business licenses are permits that allow businesses to operate within the Winters city limits. They serve as a registration of businesses and a portion of the license fee is dedicated to Business Improvement District funds, which are used to beautify the business area, advertise local events and increase tourism. Business licenses are required for both storefront and home operated businesses. FICTITIOUS BUSINESS NAMES:

Any business firm name that does not include the surname of the individual owning the business must file a Fictitious Business Name Statement with the County Clerk of the county in which the business is located. Within 30 days of filing the statement, the registrant is required to publish this statement in a newspaper of general circulation in the County (four insertions, one a week for four weeks). WHO NEEDS A CITY OF WINTERS BUSINESS LICENSE?

  • Anyone who is doing business within Winters city limits, even if only for one day.
  • Anyone living in Vacaville who is doing business from their home.
  • Anyone who has a business office or satellite office within Winters city limits.
  • Vending companies
  • Apartments
  • Mobile home parks
  • Motels
  • Taxi companies (must register with the Winters Police Department prior to submitting an application.)
